Dance The Change was founded in 2019 in Oakland, California, USA. Since then there have been over 60 Dance The Change pop-up dance party fundraisers giving back to local charities!

Dance The Change began by giving back to the tiny home movement in Oakland helping the unhoused (homeless) get free temporary housing. march 2020 COVID-19 shut the dance parties down for three months, but with the reopening June 2020 we began throwing outdoor silent Disco dance party fundraisers at beautiful Lake Merritt in Oakland.

At that point we switched to give money to the indigenous woman lead nonprofit project Sogoreate Land Trust, which is a de-colonization Project where they are buying back their native land in Oakland and Berkeley parcel by parcel.

In 2021 a Dance The Change chapter was started in Hawaii on the beautiful island of Maui, where founder Adrian lived for eight years previously. His friend Sandra has been organizing events there are doing beach cleanups and other good local charity fundraisers!

February 2026 was the birth of Dance The Change going international! Adrian spent one month and beautiful Kenya and Tanzania in Africa and mostly Focused on giving back to the beautiful community of Nairobi, Kenya. With $3000usd raised from a GoFundMe campaign with his generous friends and family donating he was able to purchase Most of the gear needed for a music studio including music production and a DJ equipment. This included two Yamaha monitor speakers, Pioneer DJ controller, two Shure Microphones, a Novation 49 key synthesizer keyboard, DJ headphones, a MacBook Pro used laptop, a Steinberg audio interface, and all of the cables needed to plug everything in. Funds are still needed to buy two PA speakers, and eight channel mixing board, electric and bass guitars, and a full drum set. That said, even with the equipment purchased, the kids now have tools to make the songs in their hearts and souls come to reality! Local musicians and DJs are currently giving weekly lessons! Dance The Change planted some seeds in the garden and now the local community is watering the garden to grow big and tall! The youth are the future! Music is the medium. 🎶❤️🎶
